Kiran was born in India. His early fascination with photography and love of visual storytelling led him to pursue filmmaking. He studied cinematography at The American Film Institute conservatory in Los Angeles and graduated in 2002. He was recognized with an Emmy Award nomination for his work on the CNN documentary Girl Rising. He lives in Los Angeles.
